Security Roles

The Security Roles configuration page enables you to define and manage roles assigned to system users with "Restricted" permission levels.

These roles are supposed to restrict access to specific extensions, groups, and trunks, ensuring that "Restricted" users can only view and report on predefined data.

Reporting Filters are used to define the specific extensions, groups, or trunks available to users assigned to a security role. This ensures precise control over what data is visible to restricted accounts.

Configured data is listed in a table with the following details:

  • Security Role Name: The descriptive name assigned to the security role.
  • Extensions: A listing of the assigned extension-based reporting filters.
  • Groups: A listing of the assigned group number-based reporting filters.
  • Trunks: A listing of the trunk-based reporting filters.
  • Default Allow: This is a Yes/No value used to determine if users should be allowed or denied access to all items in an unconfigured list type. (Eg. In the above this filter will allow visibility of calls that came in on any trunk).

Example of Default Allow:

  • Yes: Users can report on calls from any trunk type but only for extensions and groups specified in the account's filters.
  • No: Users cannot report on any unconfigured trunks, limiting their access to specific pre-defined data.

Important: If no trunk list is configured and Default Allow is set to No, this security role will not be able to report on any external calls.
