Call Costing Configuration

The Call Costing Configuration page is where cost rates are assigned to dial patterns for calculating all costs and expenses.


The configuration data appears in a table with the following fields: The Call Costing Configuration page is where cost rates are assigned to dial patterns for calculating call costs and expenses.


  • Dial Pattern: This is the pattern-matching string used to identify call categorization.
  • Length: The expected length of the number.
  • Cost: A summary of the call cost calculation method.
  • Applied To: The system(s) and/or trunk types that this cost rule is applied to (Eg. SIP, ISDN, etc).


To add or edit a call cost record, configure the following fields:


  • Dial Pattern: This is the number pattern matching string used to identify calls to apply this rate. Strings are matched to the beginning of the number dialed and may contain the numbers 0-9, X which will match any number 0-9, and N which will match any number 1-9. To do a wildcard or catch-all match, use a single X for the dial pattern.
  • Length Comparator: Sets the number length criteria. Options include "Equal to," "Greater than," "Less than," or "Undefined." When set to "Undefined," the number length is disregarded.
  • Number Length: This is the number length to be used in conjunction with the “Length Comparator” when defined.
  • Flagfall Cost: If there is a flag fall applied to this type of call on answer, this would be defined here.
  • Timed Cost: This is the timed call cost to be applied to this type of call and used in conjunction with the “Timed Cost Seconds”. Eg. $0.22 per 60 seconds.
  • Timed Cost Seconds: This is the time period at which to apply the “Timed Cost” to this type of call. Eg. $0.22 per 60 seconds.
  • Minimum Cost: Minimum charge for this call type, if any.
  • Capped at: Maximum charge limit for this call type, if applicable.
  • Apply to System: Select a system to apply this rate. “All Systems” can also be selected.
  • Apply to Trunks: Select the trunk type for this rate, such as SIP.
  • Call Classification: The classification of this call type for reporting purposes. Eg. “Mobile” “Local Call” “National Call” etc.
